NABAS is an acronym for Nano Air Bubble Aeration System, having patents in multiple countries, including U.S.  Per initial statement  of the website, NABAS is a natural way to disinfect and increase oxygen in water.

Juliet tells Romeo, “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other word would smell as sweet.” OH Radicals and Hydroxyl Radicals are same and it’s a matter of preference. NABAS decided on Hydroxyl Radicals as this is more accepted term in the scientific community.

You don’t have to do anything. Because 97% of algae is water, only 3% is left – very little mass. Dead algae become fish and fowl food source as they float to the side with a prevailing wind or breeze.

NABAS deployment of ozone is very safe. During operation, there is no detectable trace of ozone in the air as NABAS delivery of ozone to water is by way of >95% of <5 micron bubbles, achieving >95% dissolution of ozone in water. This cannot be said of other technologies where most of the bubbles are >20 microns which expands and rise to the surface, releasing ozone outside the water. For indoor operation, once the ozone disinfects the water with nothing to eradiate, you will begin to smell ozone in the air at which time, the ozone generator is turned off, running only the oxygen as needed. For outdoor operation in a large body of water, there is no concern for ozone escapement.

Ozone in water is completely safe for the fish. If fact as ozone water is taken in by their gills, the ozonated water helps with the overall health of the fish.

There’s no smoke-and-mirror with NABAS. The Mixer has multi-stage tooth gear, stacked and arranged in such a way, hitting and shredding water 20,000x per second, consistently making >95% of <5 micron bubbles. (NOTE: RPM and configuration of tooth gear is NABAS’ IP & trade-secret)

We have had NABAS run contiguously 24×7 for 7 months when we performed standard maintenance for about 1.5 hours and started up again for another 6~8 month 24×7 until the next maintenance. NABAS, once setup properly, will operate unattended 24×7.

The primary reason for maintenance is to see proper operation of oxygen generator which is needed to have ozone production. Every oxygen generator has zeolite. While in a control setting of 40% humidity, oxygen generator is able to operate 6,000 hours (about 8 months 24×7), but due to change in humidity differentiation (both indoor and outdoor), zeolite could expand, losing its effectiveness. So after doing a quick test of oxygen production, decision is made to replace zeolite in the oxygen generator, usually checking status every 6 months.

There are two (2) issues address when setting up NABAS for operation:

  1. (i) No unwanted air or leakage from NABAS System.  To expel all unwanted air, we have “air vent” built into NABAS system.
  2. (ii) Sand or gravel from the intake motor will cause problem for NABAS. The solution is proper configuration on the intake end of hose at the source water end. We have many different methods to address this issue and not difficult. This is also big part of training, following the adage, “an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.”

Pressure gauge is an indicator whether NABAS is functioning properly. We use this indicator to setup warning lights and/or siren should pressure drop to certain level.  We can also have automatic shut-off.  This is in both MANUEL or PLC controller.

PLC is Programmable Logic Controller and is an upgrade option. PLC can be added if end-user wants to control NABAS with other collaborative technology under the same controller. For NABAS operation itself, because of reliability of NABAS in unattended operation with automatic shut-off or warning, PLC is a part of “consideration” rather than a “need.”
